We still love the volt, the concept, and the great things that it can hold for our reliance on oil, unfortunately I think this particular one has some issues.
I did want to say thanks to all who follow and read our volt blog and don't let our posts about our volt being in the shop scare you from becoming a volt or any EV owner, just because we've had some issues please keep the following in mind:
- We've gone 2915 miles on 1 tank of gas
- We went 2 1/2 months between tank fill ups
- Our electric bill has only gone up about $20 to $25 per month (estimate)
- We went for 680 miles without using a drop of gas
- We went 98 miles all electric in a 24 hour period
- We're saving $250 to $300 per month from our previous gas car (makes our volt payment)
These stats make it a little easier to deal with some technical issues which I truly believe are NOT the norm, ours just likes hanging out on the service rack for some reason.
Remember, when you think about another car, especially a commuter car, "think electric".
